Oral Presentation

During my presentation I became very nervous and I started to make mistakes with words and I finally go blank. My mistake was that I was very sure of myself and of my subject in the research project; I did not prepared it enough and in the result is reflected. I have not watched the video because at the time I was aware that I did it very badly and I am ashamed. This will help me to improve face the future:)

The Kardashians

The Kardashian are a rich and a very famous family all over the world. Their fame mainly rests with the 5 sisters and the mother, but that stands out is Kim, the older sister.

Each family member is a character itself and I love it; They are great fun and are out of the ordinary. Their hit series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" is famous all over the world. 

The family is composed of Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Robert, Kris (mother), Bruce (the father of the last two) Kendall, and Kyle.

Although the series shows very frivolous and lacking in values aspects, I consider it entertaining. If I keep this reality is because it makes me laugh and not because I take It as an example, and I really think they are empty inside and all that moves them is the ostentation.

My Say

What is the role that sexuality acquire in our society?

Currently, if someone walks through the street naked, he might end up arrested. Currently, if someone from the religious sector sexually abuses a minor, he might end free. Shocking truth?

How a character who must represent goodness, solidarity, honesty allowed himself thus violating the dignity of a child; and at the same time the church cover these cases of abuse; it's incomprehensible. The reaction of the church should be steadfast and exemplary, but in reality is cowardly and permissive with the unforgivable.

Both the criminal act as the reaction of the church seem to me an attack on the foundations of Christianity (and I am not religious). If they preach helping others with their speeches, they preach child abuse by their actions.

However, they consider homosexuality a crime.

Discussion: Can tech make a better world?

Our grandparents were a generation which lived without technology, how would our lives be if we had to go back in time and live without that confort?

Perhaps technology has caused us some problems and has changed society: a factor to consider is it has become a barrier between people, we have lost proximity we are used to talk first by social media and then face to face.

Besides it has affected to the ecosystem, because technology is produced by indutrsy, and industry uses technology. It's everywhere we go and this generates toxic gas which go to the enviroment, moreover creates a lot of waste.

Another important aspect is it's true that we are surrounded by technological airwaves; these causes diseases in our health that we haven't dscovered yet. 

Finally it has improved our live quality but we think that technology should become healthier for humans and enviorment.

On the other hand technology brings to our lives too many positive things that we don't value. The most important I consider is the way it enhance our efficiency in every economic activity we do and how it has influenced our life expectancy.

Plus, technology is a source of information and of formation. This resource helps to find out the best manner to do any activity or choice. Every single technology device we use suposes a replace of older ways and a development of the humanity.

To sum up, technology has a lot of negative aspects but definitely positive have exceeded the negative because live is better with technology than without it.

Can technology solve our big problems?

Jason Pontin starts talking about Apolo to contextualise the importance of technology. They explains the resources used to arrive to the moon and then the motive why the government wanted to go to the moon. "The stronger emotion was of wonder at the transcendent power of technology". Landed on the moon was a result of great technological peak advances such as penicillin, the airplane... 

But nowadays technology gives us trivial toys like iPhone or iPad, but tech can't solve the great problems of humanity. Silicon Valley it has the clue of that: they have the created less ambitious companies and the role of venture capitalists to stop creating transformational ideas, but for incremental funding problems or false problems. They have always preferred small investments and they have put aside the investment for the development of technologies, which require a large capital. 

Another answer to that point is sometimes we choose not to solve big problems because of the failures of politics. Not to develop alternative energies or not to end the famine lies in political problems. Apolo has become a metaphor for the ability of technology to sort out our problems, but first we must try.

Terrorism

Since the attempt in Paris, the terrorist group ISIS has not ceded its activity. They are throwing videos threatening to different nations, still leaving chaos wherever they go and continue to recruit more and more people.

What mistake has had to commit the system so that there is such a large organization whose goal is to kill based on ideals filled with hatred?

Before these kinds of terrorist organizations were usually made up of characters from countries with large military problems. But now Western people change their values instilled by democracy for values based on hatred of terrorism and bloodlust.

This is a major problem for European governments because their citizens are allying with terrorists to go against their own people. I think the problem is that the states in which we live are not as liberal as we think. Maybe we should open our minds and look beyond language or culture. The borders should not separate territories but not people. The characteristic that defines us is to be human, and every time we try to supply a terrorist attack with violence this feature is fading.

I consider terrorists must be punished for their actions, but I'm totally against that Western countries bombed terrorist villages not only killing terrorsit, but killing civilians. Aren't they behaving as terrorist too?

Conversation between John and Anne
Anne: Good morning honey! Why have you been looking at the mirror for such a long time?
John: Hi babe! I don't know... I was just thinking about the possibility of doing some niptuck?
Anne: You've been smoking, haven't you?
John: Are you nuts? Of corse not. Can't you see my jowl? It's disgusting!
Anne: Come on! This is bullshit! You're perfect to me.
John: Darling, that's serious! I really thought about it and I'm pretty sure of what I want. Actually, I already have an appointment tomorrow.
Anne: What? Without even asking me? We're supposed to trust each other. 
John: I knew that this would be your reaction. Try to understand me!
Anne: OMG! I can't believe you are really thinking of getting a surgery. By the way, how the hell are you going to pay it?
John: Well... em... That was the reason why I was scared to tell you about it...
Anne: OMG! I'm going to faint.
