Mail to my teacher!

Hi Sonia! ðŸ˜Š
Today I want to talk with you about my dreams. I am not a dreamer person who is not aware of reality but I have some little dreams that I keep in secret. My biggest dream is to be a singer, can live of the music and transmit emotions, feelings to the people who listen to me. Since childhood I have liked singing and I have always practiced singing for my own. Always I have sung Beyonce's songs because they are the songs that best suit my voice.
I don't want to be like Madonna or Ariana Grande, for example, because they not transmit nothing with their songs. I want to be like Matt Corby because he is a marvelous songwriter and he transmits a lot with his  songs full of emotion.

I appreciate that is too difficult, if not impossible, that in the future I will can live of the music. But maybe the prosperity is just around the corner!

Siege Highlights Security Used in Abortion Clinics

Everything happened like in a movie. The police were heavily armed. They entered the clinic in order to reduce the armed man and release all those trapped inside. Officers stationed outside the clinic  they helped their fellow through the cameras of the clinic, managed to see how events unfold on the inside and help their fellow.

John Suthers is the mayor of the city and he could see where the suspect was. The officers knew where people were refugees inside and they knew how and when to intervene to rescue them.  The clinic has already taken strong preventive security measures. It has a very advanced camera system, a supply of bulletproof vests and a "safe room", which was useful to safeguard the life of a woman.

Abortion clinics need to take extraordinary security measures that aren’t necessary for other health care facilities. That can include bulletproof glass and safe rooms, as well as cameras and lighting and security protocols. The staff of the clinic abortions was well prepared for such occasions, and this way they saved a lot of lives. There was also a security guard at the door, but heleaved finished their turn.

The president of the clinic Ms. Cowart said the shooter had never gone beyond the waiting room and says that the employees helped to save many lives taking them to the back of the clinic. Planned Parenthood officials declined to discuss their security measures in any detail, for fear of giving tips to would-be attackers. But they said the measures were extensive.

Since 1977, 8 doctors and medical staff of abortion clinics have been killed by anti-abortion movement. There Have Been an additional 17 Attempted murders, 42 bombings, 186 arson attacks and many Thousands of violent or other illegal acts Threats Against abortion clinics.

Personal Opinion
These things should not pass and these things would not happen if the law of US arms changed. It is not safe for anyone to whichever (and I refer to this murderer psychopath who kills for prejudices) can get a weaponI also believe that although the United States generally have a reputation for being a developed country, most of its states are living with a mentality rooted in the past.

Scientists identify people most likely to benefit from statins

This article tells the study that investigate which profiles are best suited for treatment with stanines.

The recommendation to "The American Heart Association 2013" about the use of stanines and about how much is prescribed. Researchers at the University of Washington have found that studying genetics can know that people can benefit from therapy against cholesterol.

In a study published in the journal "The Lancet" carried by scientists they was investigated the risk of heart attack among nearly 50,000 people . Sex, age, cholesterol levels, smoking and diabetes precedent to designate the group of individuals into account.

“There is ongoing debate over which individuals should be allocated statin therapy to prevent a first heart attack,” study author Nathan O. Stitziel, a Washington University cardiologist and human geneticist. “Genetics appears to be one way to identify high-risk patients.” Stitzel say that more research is needed to confirm the results.

“Regardless, we can at least say that patients with a high genetic-risk score appear to benefit more from statin therapy because they’re starting at a higher baseline risk, even controlling for all the clinical measures we routinely examine.”

The study authors analyzed 27 components of the DNA of each individual to calculate their genetic risk. They claim that these 27 components are related to coronary heart disease.

The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology said in 2013 that statins could be prescribed to an estimated 33 million Americans without heart disease who have at least a 7.5 percent risk for heart attack or stroke within the next 10 years.

Ask Well: How Many Miles a Week Should I Run?

Surprisingly few miles. With only five or six miles a week, our health can improve markedly. People who run this distance weekly are underweight  and less likely to be obese than people who doesn't run this distance.

With only one or two runs a week that last one hour each the purpose is achieved. Running a few additional miles it would be worthwhile if the person wanted to control their weight and thus afford to eat more calories. You can also run more miles if you want to be a more experienced runner.

Running more than an hour a day could be dangerous, as they may increase heart problems.

Personal Opinion
Running is very beneficial to health. It is the most complete exercises. But keep willpower to do it. Running is not like playing tennis: in tennis there is no breaks, and doesn't involve too much movement. Instead, when it's practiced footing must keep a steady pace and above all don't stop running, even if it hurts. This is what it costs more and I think this is the reason why people do not practice running so often.

Black Artists and the March Into the Museum

The painter Norman Lewis never complained of racism in the American art world. Before he died of cancer in 1979, he made a prediction: He said it would take around 30 or 40 years that this situation become normalized. Lewis was right. This month has been opened the first extensive survey of Lewis.

After decades of ignorance towards the works of black artists, american museums are catching up group togehter the most significant works to collect the history of african american art. Before, when you went into a museum oneself would think that there were only two black artists worldwide. But now slowly trying to change this reality.

In the 200 Elliot Bostwick David became chairwoman of the department of his art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston . When he arrived there were only two works that came from African Americans throughout the museum. She made the process to change this situation got underway. The historians showed how a discussion about African-American art is inseparable from a discussion of American art. One can’t exist without the other.

Thelma Golden, the current director of the Studio Museum in Harlem, says that this action for group afroamerican modern art doesn't have to be a fad, but a vital part of American art.

Personal Opinion
It seems right has been become aware of the value of African-American art and has taken the initiative to do a search for the most relevant African paintings. It seems right that has been become aware of the value of African-American art and has taken the initiative to do a search for the most relevant African paintings. It is important to continue like that and black artists occupy the most important areas of each museum next to white artists.

Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande Use an Award Show to Speed a Comeback

In this article the author explains his opinion on the performances of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber in the 2015 AMA's.

During his performance everyone forgot the immature behavior of Bieber, or Ariana caught saying "America sucks." But it was demonstrated that these two stars went after her performance of "Over" to "Comeback".

This kind of shows have always served as second chance for those stars who wanted to re-emerge as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus ... Jayne Charneski, an audience and consumer strategist, he says that these phenomena are caused by social networks.                                                                   Ariadna Grande

Bieber assault a neighbor's house and attacked by pulling raw eggs. He was also caught for drunk driving and he resisted to be arrested, so many people ask his deportation to Canada. Since these incidents, Justin has begun to change his attitude.

 Justin Bieber

He has called his album "Propose" (which contains songs with such subtle titles like "Sorry", "Life is worth living" or "Love Yourself") and he has ask for forgiveness to his fans for his behavior at concerts, via Twitter.

But they worth anything these artists come clean on Twitter if they do not have an album to back them up. "Even When These kids are bad, They are not really that bad"

Personal Opinion
Fame has spoiled Justin Bieber and soon It will spoil Ariana Grande. Both are very talented but they have failed to control the fame and control their personal life, and that it is taking its toll especially to Bieber.

Oral Presentation

Our oral Presentation about Google

I think I've improved over last year because I get less nervous and I speak more fluid and clear. But I really fails pronunciation and have to try to look less of the script. In the next presentation I will work more to fix these failures:)

My say

Instagramers

In the recent years Instagram has become a fashion reference portal for boys and girls all over the world and a bussines too.

Many boys and especially girls have created accounts on Instagram where they upload photos of what they do, about places they go to eat and above all to show that ourtifs take daily.

Many stores give away pieces of clothing to these instagramers or itgirls/itboys so they post pictures with it and promote it in exchange for money. It is the same with the trendy restaurants or anything that they wear or do.

One example is Dulceida. Aida Domenech is a girl who lives in Barcelona. She has a fashion blog, an account in Instagram and in Snapchat and a youtube channel. I followed her 2 years ago and she always has a surprise to his followers.

But Aida isn't like the others instagrams because she is natural and fun, and she doesn't consider herself superior to the other people for have achieved the fame.

After being always heterosexual, two years ago she met a girl and fell in love with her. She didn't had fear to announce she was a lesbian, where in a very superficial world like is the fashion world is difficult to do.

My say

Future

In this my-say I wanna talk about the future. How disturbing can be the future. We don't know anything about it. What if we knew that the future holds? For example, who will be the love of our life or what will be the cause of our death?

Always I have believed that not aknowlege the future is a great advantage because it's the only way we can enjoy the moment and assess what we have without thinking about when we will lose it.

Each builds his destiny making the way towards that they want or desire. For instance, If I want to meet the boy of my life, first I have to fight against the obstacles to achieve my goal, but there will always be a component that does not depend on you, but the destiny.

I think the secret to a prosperous and successful future is to build the way towards your goal and always be positive and persevering and especially never lose hope.

My say

Black Friday

Next November 27 Black Friday is celebrated. Here in Spain this consumer tradition is not well established but in United Estates It's an excuse to buy wildly and uncontrollably. There, during that day all big department stores and stores impose very high discounts to their products. For customers, these discounts represent an enormous claim. They come to the shops hours before the opening making huge queues at the doors of the shops to get the best discounts.

Once started Black Friday, women and men throw out under the most lowered products, under the bargains, fights arise to achieve this desired product,  the store turned upside down, people are stampeded on... It is a spectacle that proves that the human species can sometimes be quite ridiculous.

With this video you can make a slight idea ...

It really Black Friday is a very good and brilliant marketing idea. Get wonderful discounts near christmas mobilize thousands (no exaggeration) in front of the doors of big department stores and these buy and consume endlessly has much merit.

But Black Friday also shows how degrading it can become consumerism and the desire to buy unnecessary things. As someone can step on a person and pass over him just to get a lowered television seems pathetic and makes me rethink the limits of our stupidity.

My say

The Volunteering

Volunteering has not been very present in our lives. We can blame the social model we have instilled all along our education: everyone must strive for their individual results and enjoy the achievements alone, and always expect a reward in exchange that has been made, given or worked. But I thank these "anti-system" his altruistic work. What's wrong with working in exchange for their own personal satisfaction?

Aside from volunteer camps, What we can say about the volunteers of soup kitchens, those who dedicate their time to people who have no money not even to pay for the light, which can hardly sleep under a roof, all victims the bloodthirsty economic crisis. In the four years that the crisis has been present in our lives, the amount of these volunteers has increased precipitously. Supply and demand, I guess: it increases poverty and consequently increases the number of volunteers.

I think that number should continue to rise and more people should join in volunteering because it never hurts to give, and give in exchange for a simple "thank you" is not negligible.

Writing exam: The role of women in Dorian Grey book

The role of women in Dorian Grey book

Women have ever had a ridicul role in our society. They are always destined to clean, to make dinner, to look after the kids... But when they try to improve in their work, they become rejected.

These issues are biggest mistake of our mentality. Women have been born with the same abilities than the men, but women have not the same opportunities because they always were in a second place.

In the story It does not appear any important and intelligent woman. The only one who appears is Sibyl, who is ridiculized by Dorian because she lost her talent. That shows the trust in women have pelople in this age and how much we have changed. Also we have a lot of work to do to reach the gender equality. Some examples are the difficulty that women can get a promotion in work or the sexist stereotypes.

TED: How I stopped the Taliban from shutting down my school

Sakena Yacoobi: How I stopped the Taliban from shutting down my school

Sakena Yacoobi is a woman who was born in Afghanistan. She born into a middle class family but her country was extremely poor: she grew up watching women and girls living situations of extreme poverty. That made her decide to study medicine, but higher education in Afghanistan were reserved only for boys. So Sakena had to go to the United States to study medicine. While she was studying her degree at the university, Russia invaded Afghanistan. As soon as she ended her degree, she pulled out his family from war.

All stabilized: his family was with her in a safe country, she had a good job at the university as professor of medicine, a good salary... But she was not happy. What she wanted was to help girls and women of his country, which were suffering a difficult situation because of the war. So she gave up her life in the United States and she went to Afghanistan as a volunteer.  There she formed schools in refugee camps only for girls.

One day, when she was on the way to another refugee camp, an armed men stopped her car and they asked Sakena coming down from the car. As she came down, she had already clear that she was going to die. But those armed men just wanted to ask her if someday she would decide to help children and men, because they believed that not only the girls needed help in their country. Sakena accepted but on one condicion. So the armed men came with her to the mosque and, to make a long story short, she gave them teachers. And these men became the best teachers on the spot. These huge men have learned english, computers,  they lead the other teachers through the unknown areas and they protect them from the threat of the terrorists.

Sakena, with this example of the armed men, make us see the value of education in our society, how education can positively influence in our mentality and wind up with the war definitely. She also highlights the relevance of the education in men: it make them see the potenical of the women and learn gender equality. And she finish saying loud and clear that the only way to conqueer the world is using the love, the compassion, the trust and the honesty.

Is humour necessary?

Is humour necessary?

What would happen if there wasn't any humour in the world? Imagine that we couldn’t laugh on have fun about awful issues in the world. We would go mad and, finally, we will become machines without humanity. With this notion of the utility of humour I can affirm humour is as necessary as the oxygen and that, without it, live wouldn’t have sense.

Foremost I have to say humour is innate in people. By this I mean that humour is reflected in every aspect of life, it goes out from inside and spontaneously. That is why humour is necessary, but necessary, essential for life: it is a sentiment that comes from within us naturally, and we cannot reject our nature. In the person I think humour is a gift nature gave to us and we all have to take advantage of it.

What's more humour improves happiness and amends our pessimism. It helps to fight against depression, agony, desolation and other negative feelings for our health. When we laugh we liberate endorphins, popularly known as the hormone of happiness. When these are liberated we reduce our physical pain and the risk of developing cancer decreases.

To conclude, I believe that laughing are essential for a completely healthy and happy life. And, although each has a different concept of happiness and humour, we all feel full when we crack up.

Looking Back

FINAL REFLECTION

1.  Can you see an improvement on your level of English in the past year/s?  Where, for example?
Yes. Although I improved my English a lot in the 4th, this course has helped me to set everything I learned and to improve it. In ths year I have learn about how to use the verb tenses, because the last years I was confused with that. Also I have improved my enonation and I have learnd to speak smoothly and calmly on my oral presentations. I also noticed that I have improved my vocabulary, because I can speak English with less dificulty with friends, for example.

2. Which activity best shows your level of English?
The activity that has helped me to improve my level of English have been the oral presentations. Because it has helped me to express myself better in English, to greatly improve my pronunciation and control my insecurity when speaking the language.

3. Which activities were really USEFUL for you to improve your English? Why?
The songs, movies and all kinds of audios with image in English I think are essential in learning. Because these are complete, and you learn intonation, vocabulary, and verb tenses.

4. Which activities did you NOT find useful to learn English? Why not?
I think what is less useful is the blog, because it is very heavy to do and doesn't get as much attention as other activities. You learn, but much less because it's monotone.

5. Which activities would like to do again next year to keep on improving your English?
We should repeat the activity like Quim conference. I loved it because he used a language that we all understood, but he introduced new words. It was very dynamic and what he explained was so interesting that all were playing attention to what he said and the words he used.

New

Is this the answer to office stress?

This new is about meditation. Not many people believe in their efficacy but here advised to meditate on the job. It's that work is the exact place for meditation. This creates a happy worker, increased productivity and a peaceful environment to work correctly. Especially because there is too much noise at home and this hinders the concentration in meditation. In order for meditation result is necessary to be consistent and practice daily for 10-15 min.

Then the steps to meditate properly are explained:
  • First you have to find a place to meditate. Strangely enough can ask your chief to borrow some empty room to meditate at breaktime.

  • Then you have to schedule a time. Reserve 30 min. for meditation it is more than enough.
  • Now you can begin to meditate. Keep it simple and easy. You can make use of tutorial books, videos and audios to falicitar practice. Also suggests Stop, Breathe & Think among many others mentioned in the news . This app has a growing library of meditations.

Personal Opinion
It is a good idea to promote meditation because all the results that can be obtained are good. But it is a practice that requires great effort of will and sometimes it is not effective in some people who do not have the necessary capabilities to practice.

Vocabulary
  • Hinders: to cause delay, interruption, or difficulty in.
  • Schedule: a plan of procedure to achieve a goal, esp. when referring to the ordering of events.

Is it OK to humiliate your child online?

This new talks about the latest trend to give a "lesson" to your children. It consists in film a father while he's croping the hair of his son to To shame him after making chief.

In response to this trend, Wayman Gresham made a video where he started explaining that now it was he who would give his son a lesson. In the video Is shows the scene of a  child with head bowed and his father with an electric knife in his hand about to shave the hair of his son. But suddenly Gresham asked her son to give him a hug, and not to worry, because he would never do that to his son. Greshman  explain that it isn't good to raise a child through this tipes of practices and that parents must change their way of thinking. "When parents are shaming and humiliating children, that impacts the child's ability to have proper bonding and attachment with those parents. It impairs trust,"  Besides psychologists they are totally agree with him and support his testimony because It causes the children to grown up with internal messages of 'I'm a bad person. And that's not going to develop a healthy human being.

Personal Opinion
I think it is very wrong to ridicule an own son in public because it is going against the values you want to instill putting with this punishment. And besides, a parent has to lead by example, and not promote violence under any circumstance.

Vocabulary

  • Cropping: to cut short.
  • Chief: the head or leader of an organized body.
  • Promote: to advance in rank or position.

Carnival of Roses

This party is the most incredible and funny that I never went. It is celebrated for 5 days. It consists in dress up and be part of floats. In this carnaval there is 90 floats approximately.

My float is called Otro Rollo. We are the same age more or less and we all want to have fun. During those 5 days we drink, dance and eat and have fun.

Last year I dressed up like Yoshi. It was an expectacular Carnival. Now I'll explain some anecdotes: we were all in the float and It was very fast. Everybody was a little drunk and we had little balance. It was when a chief of the float asked Katia to leave the float. Then she didn't dare because the float was ongoing, so she put one foot on the ground, and the inertia make her to fell on  the floor of faces. It was sooooo funny and I laughed like never.

Another anecdot was when a friend was very drunk and he decided to jump into the sea. Keep in mind that we was in the month of February and it was cold as death.

But all those anecdots These are part of my memories as a teenager. Because I always think that I have to do now what when I was an adult will can't do.

So you have to enjoy your youth while you can, because It don't last forever.

My friends are the most party people in the whole world!!! And they are a very important part of my life and without them the carnival wouldn't be the same. Love them!:)

My school years in the Ruiz Amado

I'll always remember my school years in the Ruiz Amado. Because it was the more happiest years of my life. It was an innocent years when I was between 6 and 12 years old, and my mentality was very different than now.

We did a lot of funny activities like "setmana del esport", when we go to bike and go to the beach and play games like carrera de sacs or fet i amagar.

Also I remeber of the teachers. They were so sweet with us and they take care of us very well. It was funny have a class with them. They were sympathetic and and still me mantain some contact with them because they took a key role in our development as people. The woman with blond hair was my mentor during the last two years of the course. The man in the middle was my professor of physical education and the one of the corner was my teacher of music, all three incredible.

The friends that I made in this school are which are my friends nowadays, like Tatiana, Maria, Vincent, Katia, Gemma, Nina, Nadia, Chakira...

OMEGA

Omega is my mascot. He is 2 years old and is a mix of two races. His story is sad: he was born far away of my home. His mother bore many little dogs because the owner didn't control her. From this, the owner started giving them away online. So my sister saw the announcement and she decided to help a live and adopt Omega. He grew up propperly but after 1 year, he became ill: He was sad, low, he didn't eat, and her eyes and legs were swollen and red. After a months investigating, doctors said that omega was allergic to especifical foods. But nowadays Omega is okay and in fit.

I consider Omega more than a simple dog, more than a mascot. Because I feel in him a soul, a little human soul. He express emotions to me. He has different looks and every single glaze has a different meaning.

Omega is adoring, affectionate, smart, but also he has strong character. I love him like I never loved a dog before.
